PMI Türkiye Conference 2024
I hope you've enjoyed the presentation! Let's go further:
- Connecting on LinkedIn - I'm relatively active on LinkedIn, and I'd be happy to be connected with you there.
- The slide deck - Feel free to use it to review our discussion.
- The landscape diagram - I've used a diagram to show the different layers and modules in the project ecosystem. It's the OMIMO's landscape diagram, and you can explore different attributes of those modules in the online version.
- PMBOK® Guide, Underneath the Surface - I've mentioned this book when I was explaining that the PMBOK Guide can be used alongside many other modules, and said that you can learn more about this concept in the book. The book is libre and free.
- Modules - When I talked about combining modules, I mentioned the combination of the following three with the PMBOK Guide:
- NUPP - It stands for "nearly universal principles of projects". You can use these principles to improve any project management system.
- P3.express - It's a libre minimalist project management method, and all its resources are available free of charge.
- ICB - It's also a free publication; the "individual competence baseline" from IPMA.
- Articles - Finally, the following are articles I've written about different topics discussed in this presentation:
- Don't make project management impossible - It's the original article I had written about a year ago about the same topic as the presentation.
- Re: Is Agile dead? - I talked about two types of hype, one that over-exaggerates something meaningful and when the hype is over, something useful remains from the idea, and the other is when the hype is over nonsense. Agile is an example of the former, and I've explained that in this article.
- The incredible power of bullshit - Many people are confused when they see that something nonsensical is wide-spread and accepted by many. This article explains why it happens, and why you shouldn't consider the popularity of an idea as a measure of its correctness.
- From the project management triangle to the seesaw - I always talk about the ethical and social aspect of project management because I think it's overlooked. In this presentation, I mentioned that it's important to have that in mind when you have people working for you, because the impossible expectations discussed in this presentation will be harmful to them. This article suggests how the ethical and social responsibilities should be positioned in projects.
And that's it :)
Good luck with your projects, and remember that you can't do everything on your own and you need the collaboration of many people in the project ecosystem.
