A complete guide to hybrid project management
2024-08-25
You've probably heard of hybrid project management, but you've never received any guidance on how to do it. Well, that ends today because I'm going to give you an easy-to-understand, easy-to-follow approach to building your very own hybrid project management system!
To make it easier, I'll use a gastronomic analogy. Grab a pen and paper and write down your preferences as you read mine. Make choices that you'd like to have every day from now on:
- Breakfast: I like to have bread, butter, and honey for breakfast. Once or twice a week, I have croissants, and I like that too. If I have to choose one option, I'll take croissants, assuming someone else goes to the bakery and buys them for me every morning.
- Drinks, during the day: During the day, I drink plenty of espressos and different kinds of tea. If you put a gun to my head and forced me to choose one, I'd choose espresso. But that's assuming I'm making it at home. If I have to drink outside, I'll pick tea because it's easier to find good tea and almost impossible to find good espresso in my city.
- Lunch and dinner: I like many things for lunch and dinner, but if I had to pick a favorite, it'd have to be lamb steak with Roquefort sauce. Oh, wait... I'm not allowed to eat meat every day. I guess I'll have turkey steak with a side of mushrooms.
- Dessert: Hmm... this is difficult. I'm thinking between tiramisu and crème brûlée. I'll go with tiramisu. Hmm... I imagine how long it would take me to get salmonella if I had tiramisu every day! Also, imagine my cholesterol level. I'll have a macaron for dessert. It's safer that way.
- Evening drink: My evening drink can be red wine, whiskey, or beer. I'll choose red wine because you all read it, and it sounds more sophisticated ;)
OK, did you pick your very favorite item for each of these? If so, you've taken the most important step in gastronomic hybridization. The next step is simple: put them all in a blender and press the button for two minutes or until it's completely smooth.
Your hybrid smoothie is now ready! Pour it into a glass, add a straw and start drinking. Too thick for a straw? No problem, just add a little water and stir for a few seconds.
The outstanding thing is that you can drink it for breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner, or any other occasion not yet known to human beings.
Some people complain about the bad smell, texture, and color of the smoothie. If these bother you, use a nose clip and a pair of dark glasses. Problem solved!
Now that you know exactly how it works, use the same approach to create your own hybrid project management system. Enjoy!
